Child Therapy
When your child is struggling, it can feel overwhelming as a parent.
You may be noticing more meltdowns, anxiety, big emotions, executive functioning challenges, or behaviours that feel hard to understand. It can be confusing, exhausting, and sometimes even isolating trying to figure out how to best support your child.
At EWC, we offer child therapy serving the Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, Brantford, St. George, and surrounding areas, as well as virtual therapy across Ontario. We provide a gentle, supportive space where children can feel safe to express themselves and where parents feel guided and supported along the way.

Signs your child may benefit from therapy
Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis to receive support.
You might consider therapy if your child is experiencing:
Frequent meltdowns or emotional outbursts
Anxiety, worry, or separation difficulties
Trouble with emotional regulation
Behavioural challenges at home or school
Difficulty with transitions or change
Sensory sensitivities or overwhelm
Social challenges or withdrawal
Big feelings that feel hard to manage
What child therapy can look like
Child therapy looks different than adult therapy—it is often play-based, creative, and adapted to your child’s developmental stage.
Sessions may include:
Play-based therapy and creative expression
Gentle emotional exploration through storytelling or activities
Nervous system regulation and calming strategies
Building emotional awareness and language
Supporting coping skills in a developmentally appropriate way
The goal is to help your child feel safe, understood, and more confident in navigating their emotions.
Our approach
Sessions may incorporate a variety of modalities, including:
Play-based and attachment-focused therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Nervous system and somatic approaches
Parent coaching and support
Neurodivergent-affirming care
Each session is tailored to your child’s needs, capacity, and personality.
Parent support is an important part of the process
You are an essential part of your child’s support system.
We offer parent guidance sessions alongside your child’s individual sessions. We work collaboratively with parents by:
Offering guidance and insight into your child’s emotional world
Supporting co-regulation and connection at home
Helping you respond to behaviours with more clarity and confidence
Sharing practical tools that align with your child’s needs
